Video formats new and old

Postby tron » Tue Dec 05, 2006 5:01 am

WOW First post I am truly amazed...

When most people think of something that is old they think of something that has passed its prime and has little or no functional value while sometimes this may be true this can't be further from the truth when talking about old video technology. Infact some of todays newest video technology is simply slight changes to older "obsolete" inventions for instance the new DLP chip is nothing more then a modification to the mechanical tv and lcds are very similar to projector technology. All of these old formats have one thing in common though they are all very interesting and they make you stop and think about todays technology a little differently.

Here are just a few links to get you started in this wonderful and rewarding hobby.

...And I hope this forum becomes a bit more active [blinzel]

I looked at the Total rewind link and there have been more formats of video then the site notes. I forget where in the site this gets noted cause it's a really big site. But CED magic.com has a note that there are loads of other formats that happened years ago that are nearly unknown now.
