Thanks to revans2491 the webmaster of GilGerard.com, I now know of a sci fi con that's coming to my town. Bought one of the 26th Century shirts a while back mainly for wanting to wear it at a con. and wanted to make up bumper stickers for From the Ashes to hand out to people during this event but since I'm unwilling to pay 54 dollars for that ... Would people like it if I advertised people's websites though a sticker across my back? This sticker would have the web addresses for all the sites listed on the work horses page of staff and don't worry Trekscaper and QL that counts you two in as well  .

Is any one else here going to this con.?

It just hit me the other day that the day I'm going to this is the same day I'd normally post the monthly voting results for the From the Ashes vote. As the result of this the voting results will be posted a day late. Also PMed QL the other day, she'll be the forum's only mod. that day. And as to the forum needing a mod., all members please remember there is no cursing in this forum. I had to edit a post the other day due to a member forgetting this rule.

That would be my slip-up; sorry about that- the word in question isn't in the word censors on the other forums I'm familiar with, so I didn't think it was inappropriate. Needless to say, it won't happen again now I know that word is unacceptable.

Speaking of the word-censor, isn't there one on this forum? Using it would make your lives easier, since it makes cussing impossible.

And then I'd be out of a job.... *big grin*
I don't have a clue about the ins and out of this forum. All I know for sure is that I'll be here... in and out. :)

Your forgiven HP, it was just one little slip up, I'm sure you did it without thinking about it.

Yes the forum does have a word -censor in the Admin. panel. But I'm not going to put it into use unless the rule is broken again. That was the first time in nearly a year of this forum being up that I've had to edit a post.

Now I feel bad for putting a blemish on an almost-spotless record! [depri]

On two other forums, the word-censor comes in handy- one crowd occasionally gets rowdy, but for the most part they contribute good material to the forum. So, it's to the management's benefit to auto-censor the nastiest of the words, keeping the place from degenerating into "locker-room" talk as opposed to banning those members. Some words are allowed, provided they are not used too often. (It's a PG-13-type forum, more or less.)

The other forum is fairly low-traffic, but at least once a week a spammer signs on and creates 10-12 porn threads filled with vulgarities. The problem is that the forum may not be checked by a moderator for several hours, and there is a risk of impressionable youngsters reading that garbage, or at least an enraged parent checking on where their offspring logs onto.

To prevent possible legal action, the word-censor turns those offensive threads into pure nonsense or the utterly mundane. In my own twisted way, I actually look forward to seeing new posts there that read off, [Circus clowns] get brutally [spammed] with [ancient textbooks on Guatemalan poetry]
! :laughing5:

Tron, that word has another meaning. Please don't use it in the forum again. People normally don't think of this other meaning so I'm not going to edit out the word this time.

So if you hadn't drawn attention to this other meaning, people might not even have noticed it... (At least I wouldn't have!)
