Also in this movie the ship has almost as much personality as the crew, although it never actually speaks............

I've noticed that no one has made a guess and I have some free time at the moment while on vacation....................so here is another quote:

Also another clue about the movie, it is a spin-off from a short lived TV series...........

If it makes you feel better, I've been reading the whole time, but I still have no clue. I'll have to do some thinking about short lived science fiction/fantasy shows.
