Welcome 8).

This story met two goals when I wrote it. One: I wanted to at least write one time travel episode in season one. Two: I wanted to write one that was as unique as possible from any other time travel story I'd ever read or watched. Had not read this one for some time and thought I might have been forgetting some thing out of the story when you wrote ..
ohboy wrote:By the way, you mentioned "your book". I don't remember if you mentioned it or not (I don't think you did, I would have remembered something like that), but what was it called?

What book are you referring to? I reread the episode earlier today and found I had mentioned nothing of a book in this episode. Litterbox, Sandtrap Difference?: A Catwalk Collection? 770: Danger in Numbers?

I'm sorry. My mistake was doing a review at 11:30 at night. You made this statement,

I like sci fis that get morals attached. Some consider part of science fiction to be commentary and other times it can also have satire ( same in my book )

and I thought that you were talking about a book that you wrote. Hectic day, I didn't realize it until you later mentioned it that you were using it as a figure of speech.

Episode 18

One of the best things that a story in some form can do is invoke emotional reaction from people. If someone begins to think about the issue presented, or is "moved' by a piece, rather the reader agrees or disagrees, then the writer has generally done a good job.

I felt emotion in this sense, but I my feelings were against what Buck did. I don't know why, because I have agreed with his moves on every other episode, but this time I just didn't really think what the Defense Directorate did was right. I know the argument could be that the child's father was dying, but to be honest, many people here would say that the culture in the Middle East is appalling, while the people there might say that ours is disgraceful. I'm afraid that this time, I formally disagree with the moral of this episode. To me, it was wrong for one side to try and act as a morally superior judge who should demand conformity to their culture.

However, morals aside, the writing here was very well done. It moved along at a well-done pace, with the ending being very sad. I don't know if that's the last of them (no plot spoilers), but I sure hope not. Besides that, it was smooth, and was just as great as all the rest.

Please don't take any offense in this. My logic here was that since I always point out how I normally am happy with everything, and that I really enjoy the morals at the end, I felt that I should also post disagreements, just so we both know where the other is coming from. If I just posted positive things, and agreed with everything, then I wouldn't really be doing reviews so much as just telling you what I think you would want to hear.

When writing this one I knew people might look very badly upon what was taking place in it. Some subject matter is touche and this episode I knew clearly went into being that way. Your's is the second review I've heard for this one so now on my record, I can say this got one thumbs up and one thumps down. The story wasn't touching on any real religion or culture and I never meant for it to.

I greatly appreciate the honestly & thoughts in your reviews OB.

One note about the Middle East/America analogy. I wasn't saying that you were trying to form it in the likeness of any culture. One thing I have to do a lot is write papers in which I choose a topic and then have to pick out facts/analogies/instances to support them. I didn't mean anything about that, and I try to monitor myself in not going on (If I didn't stop myself above, I'd start looking for instances and references, complete with an attached bibliography at the end formatted in proper MLA style [bigsmile] ).

Just thought I should point out that I mean nothing by this or further examples I may use, I'm just used to having to support all of my views with facts or evidence.

Episode 19

This was a wonderful episode. Not only did I enjoy the love triangle that ensued, I also found some more insight on the Draconian Empire. I love the two battling empire themes, so I really enjoy when they take dominance as the bad guy in an episode.

Overall, this was a wonderful episode, all down to the shooting and Ardala's rage against Wilma. Even when Tigerman decided to nod no... that would have been so much funnier if I could have actually seen that. This had a good amount of humor, along with some action, and I could really feel the relationship blossom at the end of this. Just two more episodes, leading up to the season finale. I haven't read that yet, since I'm reading these in order, but this could have made a great season finale.

By the way, this also gave me a great idea to add to that episode we discussed (non-canon one) in the Star-Port.

I just shot through writing this one, it was such a fun one to write 8).
It was even round-oned act by act and normally I'll just round one them all at once when I've finished writing an episode. Just a heads up about the next episode you read. It's a two part story. I wanted to one season one on a bang.

As for your idea that we talked about. I'm still interested in posting it in the site if you feel like writing it :).

First off, I HIT THE QUOTE BUTTON!!! [bigsmile]

<ahem> As for the story, I would still love to post it up. At this point, I actually have all the characters, the plot, and everything in my mind. I notice that just about all the characters from this series is based in some way off the original series, so I could see how mine wouldn't fit. I just didn't understand the concept until later.

Overall, at least in the visualization (next is outline), the episode is going to be shallow enough that it won't have any real series-plot development outside of a subplot pertaining to this "episode" (despite being non-canon, I can't think of a better word), but at the same time, deep enough that if you ever did decide to make it part of the main series for any reason at a future date, you could stick it in and it would flow.

I know I may be jumping the gun by saying all of this when I've still got two more episodes of season 1 and (at this point in time) a little over half of season 2 to read, but the episode is ready for outlining. Plus, let me stress for those who may not have read-in on the Star-Port conversation, but this "episode" is not part of the main series, but rather a non-canon story.

Anyways, I promise to have at least season 1 finished by the end of the weekend, and probably, but not guaranteeing, but I should have read episode 1 of the next season by Monday.

Episode 20

I have always enjoyed watching the penultimate episode lead directly into the season finale. However, for the sake of this review, I will simply pretend this stands completely alone.

This moved along at a wonderful pace, leading right into the part where the eagle attacks, and it tied in very well to that lost ship that is constantly being referred to in the series. Of course, once again, it stays in mystery, at least for now, which I thought was smart, just so it could be brought up again in a later episode. Even the conversations between Buck and Wilma appeared to have flowed very well from the last episode. Also, it was nice to bring back the scenes from previous episodes so that the audience has an idea of what is going on, or, if they're like me, they just remember all of it (I probably would have forgotten about that if it wasn't mentioned).

I can't wait to read the final episode, and see just how the future augurs for Buck and his companions. Of course, something tells me that Asimov has yet to be mentioned...

Wow, I nearly forgot having mentioned the Searcher in episode eight even though I never used the name.

I was hoping people would connect the tid-bits together but wasn't counting on many remembering, so I find it great you did connect the dots. I have considered doing that bit with episodes I've written since but have thought better of the idea. Lots of episodes connect to each other through odd means and I don't feel like doing the "Gargoyles" bit in the front of each one. I like to think the audience can remember things well 8).

As for the second part of the story and what you think might happen  ...

Well, I just couldn't wait to read this one. I figured I had to read it tonight, since I was too curious to wait until morning.

This was a wonderful season end, and a great way to to leave people for three months (if it was televised). It was nice at the end how both Hawk got what he wanted, and Buck got a new companion. This was yet another one of those episodes that would have been a little more clear had it been a television show, since there was a lot of moving around in time, and the like. Great job, I look forward to beginning season 2.

By the way, I reread this portion, but what happened to David and his cohorts? Did they leave the planet, or did they share Asimov's fate? :?

On a season 1 ending note, I'm just going to continue the episode reviews on this thread, as not to try and have a new thread, so after your response I have an idea on how to somewhat do that without starting a new thread. Also, once again, after reading the ending of season 1, I have everything ready for that story, up to the outline.

Nice work on a great opening season! :D It was a real joy up to this point, and I hope it stays that way!

Thank you thank you :flower:.

As to what happened to David and his cohorts. The birds did them in, I didn't want to make their deaths graphic. Even though technically this was the end of season one I think of 18 through this one, to be the end of the season. 18 rapped up the side story of De-Pas being in the Defense Directorate. 19 rapped up the creation of Buck and Wilma becoming a couple. 20 & 21 rapped up the rather lengthly introduction of Hawk and his kind to the series.

Just an update for every body following the series as of new episodes. 36 is finished, I just have to find the time to round one it & send it to Mariet for round two. 37 is outlined and I've finished most of it's teaser so far. ...Really need to break that habit I have of starting one before finishing the one before it :? .

SEASON 2 REVIEWS

Episode 22

Well, it was nice to open up the second season. After all, I couldn't wait to see what happened with Asimov, Hawk, Buck, Wilma, and Huer.

This was a funny episode, and a very light-hearted way of opening up the new season. It shifted quite nicely from humorous to ominous, even when the four lillipans were underneath the ship. Enough said there... The end was perhaps the most ominous, which left me anxious of what's to come. Although, I doubt the issue will be addressed in the next episode, I'm sure that Asimov is coming back into the equation at some point. It was nice to see Hawk's adjustment, and I think you captured his curt behavior quite nicely as he went through this situation.

This question wasn't as impending back in season 1, but since I'm already in the current season (at this time), I should ask this. About, roughly, how much time passes between one episode being posted from the next?
