This was a funny episode, and a very light-hearted way of opening up the new season. It shifted quite nicely from humorous to ominous, even when the four lillipans were underneath the ship. Enough said there... The end was perhaps the most ominous, which left me anxious of what's to come. Although, I doubt the issue will be addressed in the next episode, I'm sure that Asimov is coming back into the equation at some point. It was nice to see Hawk's adjustment, and I think you captured his curt behavior quite nicely as he went through this situation.

This question wasn't as impending back in season 1, but since I'm already in the current season (at this time), I should ask this. About, roughly, how much time passes between one episode being posted from the next?

'K now on to the episode 22 :sunny:. I wrote it as a treat to season two fans of the 25th Century show. It has got to be as you pointed out one of the most "light-hearted" episodes I've ever written for the series. It was meant to further introduce Hawk's personally and provide setup for later.

Before April when the financial difficultly started. I had the norm going of one or two episodes a month on what I'd be producing for the site. Once in the blue moon it would be three episodes.

There are lots of episodes planned that haven't been written yet. It's just with how uncertain my life has become since April I don't have the kind of time I used to for writing. Since some actions taken, that started in July, some things have become clearer and that's why suddenly people are seeing updates in the site again.

It does bother me for how far the series has fallen behind in the last few months compared with the steady pace it had last year and the year before.

Just wanted to drop by and say that I haven't forgotten about the stories, but it has been such a hectic week that I haven't got the time to read another episode, let alone post a review. I promise I will tonight or tomorrow. Certainly before Labor Day. Also, the story had to take a backseat as a few situations arose between some classes. I should be back on track next week, though.

If these weeks keep up as they are, though... [shot]

Just kidding!!! I'm not crazy, at least in a dangerous way. :P

Episode 23

Postby ohboy » Sun Aug 31, 2008 11:58 pm

Well, I finally made time for this next episode.

This was a good episode, and it was very nice to see them again. This episode made a nice follow up from some events of season 1, and I could see the episode moving smoothly. The ending was a bit confusing, but that was because I couldn't see all of the action, and reading some things on this series is harder than seeing them. That wasn't your fault, since you were writing it in script format.

Anyways, great job, and hopefully I can get to the next episode in less than a weeks time, along with everything on your computer working out so that you can come back on when you please, systemcat. 8)

Thanks for the review 8).

Midway through writing episode 10 the basic idea hit me for this episode. This episode also has the interesting note to it as one of the first stories I came up with meant for season two. The Might of Mice story idea came later but I thought it made a better intro to the season.

Episode 24

Postby ohboy » Sat Sep 06, 2008 10:54 pm

This was a very easy episode to follow, if I do say so myself. It was nice to see the characters from the first season again, and it was also nice to see the ending. I don't want to reveal plot, but about the "culture" in the episode, I'm glad that Buck didn't change it. It's not as though I agree with those views, but I don't think it is one person's job to change an entire way of thinking. This was a great episode, and it certainly could open the door to future episodes that go back on this theme.

You actually captured a very subtle theme, one that you may not have even noticed when you wrote this episode, that I try to base all my stories on to some extent or another. There really was no "bad guy", but rather a lot of gray areas as to who is "correct". That was one of themes that I really enjoy in the episodes that contain that plot device. I walked away from the ending credits with the sense that both sides were right, which can be hard to do.

Nice job, and I promise I'll take advantage of my time off tomorrow and do another episode. Unless, of course, something terrible happens and I can't. But that shouldn't happen...

That was a fun one to invent a plot for, not that it isn't for the other episodes too :). It was one of two episodes I've ever written where part of the story was lost and had to be rewritten. At some point while it was still on paper, most of the teaser disappeared some where. It's also the first episode that when off an idea Gil Gerard presented in the Q & A session at Starfest '07, of Buck traveling to other countries.

Don't worry about finding time to read these, you have enough to worry about offline. But when you know you have the time for the next episode I hope you can enjoy it stress free. 8)

Thank you. I don't think I had more work, among other things, than I thought. I will try to find time during the week to post one. After all, I really do enjoy reading these episodes, and they actually take my mind away from the schoolwork.

Episode 25

Postby ohboy » Tue Sep 09, 2008 11:38 pm

I actually got very caught up, and so I had the time to read and review another episode. :D

I thought this was a very interesting episode, one that was actually pretty funny to read. As a video, this would probably have been much more serious, but simply to read it was priceless. This was a great episode, but actually, one thing that really scares me in movies and television shows is that general theme. Therefore, I don't know if I could have watched it as an episode, but that's describing me, and not the writing quality of the episode. Great job, and I can't wait to read the next one, when I have a chance.

By the way, that actually gave me an idea for another story down the road. I don't know why another idea just popped in my head, but after reading this...

Thanks :D.

That episode is odd compared to almost every other episode that's been written for the series so far. It didn't have an outline written and it was pretty much written on the fly. Yah, I knew what I wanted in the episode but that was just the very bare bones of it.

If you have another story idea ... 8).

Episode 26

Postby ohboy » Sun Sep 14, 2008 10:42 pm

Well, this was certainly a very interesting episode, to say the least.

The introduction moved rather quickly, and the story was very action-filled. Obviously, since this is a two-part story, I can see the action escalating up to this point. This was an episode that almost anyone can relate too, since we live in those conditions today. You obviously, yet tactfully, incorporated social issues into this story. Nice job, and I look forward to reading the second part.

By the way, I was a little off on one part. Was this based on Cold War Earth (Cuban Missile Crises), or Iraq War Earth (Present)?

It was based on the Iraq War Earth (Present) but truthfully it was just meant to be a mirror image of 21st century life pre-WW3 in the 26th Century series. The second part just really connects with the Hawk storyline. Expect a lot of action in that episode, you wouldn't believe how fast I some how wrote one of it's acts because of that fact. After I've seen a little more of your 26th Century writing, (remember what I said in the Star-Port?) I have an idea for what stories in the series you might want to write starting in season three. This idea has to do with what you said in your response to my review of the "The Five Hundred Year Duel". If your interested in hearing about this further please tell me :).

....I'm not feeling very good right now and I think I might be catching some thing so this will be my only post tonight. .. :(

Episode 27

Postby ohboy » Wed Sep 24, 2008 11:07 pm

It's been too long, but I finally got another episode finished! :D

I thought this was a nice episode, one that really went into detail on Hawk's past, and at the same time, it really had the action aspect from the repeated attacks that Buck and Hawk received. I'd say more, but I'm afraid I'll spoil key plot points if I do. Overall, it was a good as the other episodes.

I can't wait to see the next episode, but something bothers me. What did you mean by "second part"? I didn't really see the two episodes connect. But then again, it's been many days, and a lot of work between the time I read episode 26 and now, so I could be missing something.

Can't wait to find the time, hopefully sooner than ten days, to read the next one. Good lord! I'm almost caught up to the present episode.

Thanks for the review :). In the last episode Hawk discovered Buck had been alive centuries earlier and was getting down about it. That was the connection between this episode and the last.

Episode 28

Postby ohboy » Sat Oct 04, 2008 8:25 pm

This episode was nice, since it went into Buck's past, but it was a little confusing without the help of a television screen. Mainly, it was hard for me to visualize the Generational Mass, and that made bits of the story hard to read.

However, this was a great story besides that fact. I can't wait to read the next episode, which will hopefully be sooner than the gap between this and 27. Great job!

By the way, in your response to episode 25, you mentioned something about a World War Three. In the Buck Rogers 26th Century canon, was there a World War Three. I only ask because I may be able to incorporate that in a story.
