I'm ashamed to say, I've never seen any of the Matrix movies.

Well, you've got two guesses to get it! :)

In my opinion (and I stress opinion, although I'd love it to be stone-cold fact) the first one stands alone and is worth checking out for mind-blowing sci-fi.

I also love the first sequel (Matrix Reloaded) as it outdoes the second one in many ways. It ends on a cliffhanger, so to finish the story you need to see the third one...

...which isn't nearly as good. It has a lot of impressive visuals, and dares to take the story in an unexpected direction, but not the one I would have chosen, given the setup of the first two films. I own the first two on DVD, but find Matrix Revolutions a rather depressing experience and can't bring myself to buy it. [depri]

That's closer than I am- I'm utterly clueless on whichever movie it is... [depri]

I'm going to take a guess.. This is the one I've been thinking about.

Is it .. "The Neverending Story?"

Aaah, The Neverending Story! That's the only quote so far I would have recognized if graylady hadn't beaten me to it. Loved the book and the movie!
