jassian Productions and the 26th Century

Postby systemcat » Sat Dec 06, 2008 10:01 am

It's been a long wait but finally I can announce a goal that has been with the series since day one has a 99% chance of happening.

..Ok I didn't start scouting till Dec. '06 but still it's been a long wait. Dec. '06 is when I started looking outside TV networks.

A company well a company that hopes to come into being next year under the name 'jassian Productions', wants to film scenes from the 26th Century series. There are currently three possible scenes that might be filmed. More might come of this project if the company and production team lead by Jessie Neumann would like to continue with further productions based on the series.

I've been told there is only a slight chance of this project failing so every one cross your fingers it doesn't :). When the scenes have been fully produced and sent to me I'll be uploading them to the site for hosting to be shown for download on the Extra Media page.

A billion thanks to you Jessie Neumann, I really hope this happens :D.

Her official site, this will also be put with the video on the Extra Media later 8).

I'm very happy for you and the website. This is a great turn of events.

I know I mention this a lot, and I don't want to bring down the good mood, but just make sure that you can film Buck Rogers, even a fan fiction, legally, since you don't own the trademarks or copyrights to Buck Rogers. Sorry to be the downer, but I'd hate to see all of your hard work go down the drain from a lawsuit.

Anyways, I hope that all the filming goes well! Can't wait to see the movies. :D

When I purposed the project I off the bat mentioned it wouldn't be a paying gig. Fan fiction based virtual series can't make money off their copyrighted content. That's why the shop doesn't carry any products that use copyrighted material. It's not going to be movies. I selected scenes from three episodes that don't require a large budget. Other fan fic. based virtual series have gone to video before but there aren't many. The most well known is Star Trek: Phase Two, I've seen that series promoted on and offline, even at Starfest. It's all being done in fun, OB, there's nothing to worry about.

I've been told it would be a good idea to state this is going to be a low budget production. I was already expecting that but you guys should be made aware of that. Heck my dad on the phone wondered if this was going to be in theaters until I cleared up the details to him. [phone]

Aye! Sorry to put a damper on the good news. Trust me, I would love for the videos to commence. I hope that you or Jassian (Jessie) keeps us updated on how all that is going.

I asked her to keep me updated on this the other day, but I should add here. I don't think we're going to see any video for months. I told her there isn't pressure to push this so I have the feeling this project won't start until next year. As for the damper, I understand where your concern came from and that's why I explained things. It's all cool, no need to say your sorry :).

Not that I'd mind it playing in the big theaters, mind you :)
But I'm afraid I'll need more practice for that.

Das ist nicht gut! I don't know about anybody else, but the link just leads me to a white pack with "some mockups" in hyperlink, and when I click on that, I go to a white screen. Can anybody else see the video. It could easily just be me, since I have had a problem looking at another one of Jassian's videos in the past.

Anyhow, I'm glad that progress is being made, and I can't wait to (hopefully) see the final result. Keep up the hard work. :)

Nicely done :) , I got the biggest kick from watching it and remembering writing it in script  . Man I wrote that story out of order but it was fun to write. Knew from the moment I saw the trash can which of the scenes I was about to watch. Good acting & directing 8) . I could tell editing is going to take place later with the words on screen. Is it possible to have the sound boosted & more people but just as extras?

Erin :cat:

You posted before I got the chance, the forum is busy tonight  :D . It shows up as a link for me that after clinking opens up Windows Media Player.

I don't think I will be able to re-shoot. Regrettably it was hard enough to recruit even those two actors.
Getting extras in is actually pretty hard. I thought it may work if we say they stood behind after class.

I was wondering if there is a particular year you want to set it in. I was playing in keeping the audience ingnorant of the fact they are watching Buck Rogers until the moment Ben says "Buck".. took the liberty to switch it around in the script. Although the true fans will probably get the hints. :)
Please look at scene 3 and let me know if we have terminology problems such as "aircraft". i may have more suitable soundbits if you see any problems. This one is pretty close to the final edit :)

I need to access uni computers to finish scene 2 properly. The video bit is still being fine tuned :)

Ohboy, so you click the link and you get a totally blank page? No messages ? What happens if you copy and paste this into your navigation bar:

Ohboy, have you also tried right clicking the hyperlink, and selecting "save target as" I suspect it's some kind of safetly setting on your computer.

Oh and erin, would you lok at the shot I emailed you and let me know if you have a preference?

sorry about the multiple posting but i forgot to answer:
Don't worry Erin, I will bring the sound up to proper braodcast standard. regrettably I didn't have a 'soundie' for that scene and had to use the camera mic, but I can fix it up quite a bit.

Anohter problem I had with using the cafeteria (or another public space) which would have made a beautiful scene is branding. the place is flooded with items with trademarks or brand recognition shapes on it. You won't believe how hard it is to avoid. it's a copyright issue, if I'd wanted to do that I would ahve probably needed two designers creating fake brands , like the milk carton in the script, and to remove everything else from sight. And even then my option for shots would have been limited, due to posters or view of the clearly australian landscape. I really need a big budget and a huge crew :) that would be nice. i would like that a lot.

Hope you're happy with what I can deliver with my limitations. I hope the accents aren't too much of a problem. :)

oh I have a quite important suggestion for you.
You should purchase a domainname for your site (they're really not too expensive, although the linking also costs money) which is really catchy and easy to remember as we will present it for only a few seconds, and people should have an easy time typing it.
Although we could keep it as a bubtitle throughout the past two scenes if you like. But I still recommend a catchy name with that . :)

Alright, I was finally able to watch it. Good job, Jassian.

May I ask, mainly because my memory is a bit foggy, which episode that scene was taken from?
